Transcribed from the clipping

“‘It’s a black day for the future of democracy in Israel,’ said Tewfik Toubi, an Arab member of Parliament.”

Context added by this archive

Tewfik Toubi sat in the Knesset for forty-one years. Here he is quoted on a banned conference, in a story mostly about who met Yasir Arafat in Sofia. He is a member of the Israeli Parliament describing the Israeli Government, and the paper identifies him by ethnicity before office.
