“Dr. Khalil Totah’s letter to The New York Times of Oct. 1 would have us believe that the Arabs desire such a solution and implies that if the Lord builds the house in Palestine it will be an Arab house.”

Three years after Khalil Totah wrote to Truman for the Institute of Arab American Affairs, he is still writing, and the Times is still printing the rebuttal. The archive now holds both ends of that correspondence, 1945 and 1948, on the same date of the year.
