Jewish State in Palestine Opposed

Transcribed from the clipping
“The reform rabbis at their meeting this morning passed a strong resolution condemning the proposed establishing of an independent Jewish State in Palestine.”
Context added by this archive
Four paragraphs from Montreal, printed six weeks before the First Zionist Congress. The opposition recorded here is rabbinical, which is worth remembering whenever the record is read as though Jews and Zionists were ever one undivided word.
