Palestinian Frustration To the Editor: Re Thomas L. Friedman's "Go Ahead, Bore Me!" (column, Sept. 22): Having just returned from a two- month visit to the West Bank, I can attest that the Palestinian silence represents not a promising acquies- cence but a festering sense of hope- lessness.

Palestinians feel demeaned and helpless against an Israeli occu- pying force whose tactics constantly remind them they are powerless to go about their daily lives. And they feel betrayed by the Palestinian leader, Yasir Arafat, who promised a just resolution to the conflict yet who seems to be delivering a brighter future only for the Palestianian Authority. • Boston, Sept.
