Palestinian Problem We are making no excuse for the Palestine terrorists, who seem to us to be hurting their own cause most, but we can see no realism in the statement of the British authorities in the Middle East that they will eradicate the menace by force of arms. Wiping out terrorists by force is something that has seldom been done.

The Czars of Russia couldn't do it and still more recently the Nazis, with no lack of force, failed sig- nally to wipe out the terrorists in France, Belgium, Holland, Poland and other occupied countries where no Nazi was ever certainly safe. The problem of Palestine has now run along long enough to make it evident that it is not to be settled by force by anyone.

Arab terrorists have had their try at it with no good result; Jewish terrorists will do no bet- ter. The governing power, Britain, has not succeeded in suppressing by force either of these groups
