“It is interesting to note that Dorothy Thompson, who has bitterly attacked every manifestation of industrial fascism and who has certainly been a far keener analyst and prophet of international affairs, takes the diametrically opposite point of view… Hitler is doing his utmost to reassure Lessing Rosenwald. He is seeing to it that there shall be no Jews in ‘central European countries’ to endure the humiliation… of a free, creative Jewish state in Palestine.”

An attack on Lessing Rosenwald, spokesman of the American Council for Judaism, after he wrote in Life magazine. Two things make it worth holding: it cites Dorothy Thompson as the counter-authority in 1943, seven years before she wrote the column about the indigenous Arab population; and the father whose fund it mentions, Julius Rosenwald, appears in this archive cabling $25,000 to Hadassah in 1929.
