“Premier David Ben-Gurion informed the Knesset tonight that the Government had instructed the Israeli delegation at Lake Success to request a United Nations inquiry as to whether the Arab states were complying with the General Assembly resolution outlawing genocide.”

The Genocide Convention was adopted in December 1948. Three months later Israel is in the Knesset asking the United Nations to apply it, and the Times prints the word genocide in a headline about Palestine for what appears to be the first time. Who the word is pointed at is the whole story.
