“About 10,000 Israeli Arabs, along with scores of Israeli Jewish supporters, gathered today in this village in northern Galilee to protest the Israeli Government’s policy of expropriating Arab-owned lands… A number of speakers accused the Israelis of overreacting to the demonstration last year and deplored the Government’s seizure of Galilee lands for a housing project.”

Context added by this archive

The first anniversary of Land Day, and the beginning of a run in this archive that reaches 2000. Farrell records the chant in both languages: With spirit and with blood we shall redeem Galilee. He also notes that Israel’s Arab population is about fifteen per cent of the country.
