The clipping arrived captioned Chicago Tribune, 9 February 1948, but the headline says Israel, and there was no state of that name until 14 May 1948, so the caption date cannot be right. The record is held at the captioned date and marked estimated until the page is found.

Kept in the archive for the noun. Whenever this ran, the sentence has a state on one side and Arabs on the other: one party with a name and a seat, one party that is a population. The line underneath calls it war.
A correction
the caption says Chicago Tribune, 9 February 1948, but the text refers to “Israel”, so it is after May 1948. Still to be confirmed.
