60,000 Arabs Leaving Haifa In Mass Exodus

How this transcription was made
The scan is the headline block only; there is no body text on it to transcribe. The three lines above it belong to a different story on the same page, so the column reads PUNISHMENT CONSIDERED OF NO VALUE and then 60,000 Arabs Leaving Haifa In Mass Exodus.
Context added by this archive
One of four American papers carrying the 23 April 1948 Haifa dispatch. This headline gives the 60,000 the verb: they are leaving, in a mass exodus. The Idaho Statesman that day said they were forced out (CP-1948-024).

This record is part of Covering Palestine, an archive of American newspaper clippings about Palestinians, 1724 to 2023. Researched and assembled by Maria Robles.
The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
