ront, looks on approvingly. PALESTINE LIVES TOWARDS the end of the 19th century, when the Zionist politi- cal movement was founded, its slogan was: "Give us a land without people for a people with- out a land." It meant Palestine.
WHEN the Zionist movement began, with the active help of the British to colonize Palestine after World War I, its leader Chaim Weizmann de- once clared: "Palestine will be as Jewish as England is English and France is French." AT the turn of the twentieth century the Zionists denied the existence of the Palestinians, the people of Palestine.
Thirty years later the Zionist leaders de- clared their intention to vacate Palestine of the Palestinians. In 1948 they embarked on realiz- ing that design by force of arms, resulting in a million and a half Palestinians now living in refu- gee camps OUTSIDE Palestine.
