“DOWRY INFLATION. TEL AVIV (AP) — Like everything else, the price of Palestinian brides has soared, the national news agency ITIM reported. In 1967, a dowry for a young Arab woman in lands held by Israel was under $300. Now it’s $2,380, and double that for an educated girl.”

and double that for an educated girl. In 2007 the Associated Press would spend a full page discovering that a Palestinian bride’s degree is worth an extra salary. The Journal Star printed the same fact in 1974 in fifty-one words, as a brief about inflation.
