PALESTINIAN POPULATIONS Mr. Ellis's Views on the Canaanites Are Discussed. To the Editor of The Neto York Times: It is interesting to read William T. Ellis's statement that the natives of Palestine are not Arabs but the aborig- inal Canaanites.

Now this is nows, to the Jew as well as to the Canaanite, to the latter especially, inasmuch as he has been universally misrepresented in the press as an Arab, on the flimsy pre- text that he speaks Arabic.

The mythi- cal Arab immigrant with his paltry thir- teen centuries in Palestine and the Jews "all left" after fifteen centuries who are pikers beside the millennial Canaan- ite. At long last we can understand the why and wherefore of the doings in Palestine.
