The Palestinian general strike of 1936 reaching an American Jewish weekly as a decision taken by 150 Arab leaders — a number, and a deliberate collective act, rather than disorder. The headline calls it a campaign of civil disobedience.
Alongside it on the same front page, under a photograph, runs the answer: Brodie Says 500,000 More Jews in Palestine will Solve Arab Problem There, in which the president of the American Economic Committee for Palestine attributes the disorders to the agitation of Arab leaders and says the way to solve Arab-Jewish relations is to bring in another half million Jews as soon as possible.
