“Jews in Palestine have no doubts that victory will be theirs in the Arab-Jewish [fighting] now raging in the Holy Land. Harry Weinsaft, a member of the Haganah Jewish Army, told Hartford Zionist District members Monday night that Palestinian Jews mean business; that they intend to hold their borders given them by the United Nations at any cost and that they can make democracy work in Palestine. He stated that the 250,000 Jews in European displaced camps and the 700,000 Jews in Palestine are ‘sick and tired’ of betrayal, of double dealing and of the charity of the world.”
