Israel To Help Its Arab Citizens
In Economic, Cultural and Social Rehabilitation.

Transcribed from the clipping
TEL AVIV, (Palcor)—An Arab consumers cooperative and a labor exchange, founded by the Israeli Government, are now functioning in Haifa, providing a steady flow of employment for Arab workers. An Arab workers club and three Arab workers cooperatives have been opened in Jaffa.
These institutions are part of a new program being undertaken by the Israeli Ministry of Minorities, headed by Behor Shitreet, to encourage autonomous institution among the Arab population of Israel and to further their economic and social program. The Ministry will soon begin a census of the economic and social structure of the Arab community in Israel.
It has already completed the organization of branch offices in different parts of the country to ensure the safeguarding of Arab rights, to encourage social, economic and communal reconstruction among the Arabs and to foster better Arab-Jewish relations. The Ministry announced that all Arab schools will be re-opened with the beginning of the next school year.
A pedagogical council has been formed to plan a curriculum and supply text books. The new education program will prepare Arabs for all spheres of activities and will stress Arabic culture. This is in contrast with Arab education under the British Mandatory administration.
