Transcribed from the clipping
“Infiltrators from Lebanon attacked an Arab village in Israel last night, killing one villager and wounding two others.”
Context added by this archive
Read the headline, then read the first sentence underneath it. The wire copy says
an Arab village in Israel. The headline says
Israeli Arab Village. The compound was not written by the reporter in Jerusalem; it was made on a copy desk in Harrisburg, under a column measure, by folding a prepositional phrase into a two-word label. The uncompressed original is printed two lines below its own compression. The village is Arab al-Aramshe, on the Lebanese border.
