“I think it incumbent upon the objective reporter to present points of view before drawing moral conclusions, which I am not going to draw today… They remain a static problem for a variety of reasons, one of which I have discussed, Israeli intransigence… For 20 years newsmen from the world have traversed these dirt streets taking pictures and interviewing the inhabitants and they haven’t offered any compelling ideas on the subject either.”

The longer of two printings of the same syndicated column. Golden walks a camp on the Bethlehem hills with an Israeli escort, quotes an Israeli captain and an Israeli major, and announces that drawing moral conclusions is not the objective reporter’s job. Not one refugee speaks. He then names the failure of his own trade, four paragraphs from the end.
