“Abdel Jawad Saleh of the P.L.O.’s Executive Committee was quoted as having charged that Mr. Jackson had sought ‘to split the Arab and Palestinian ranks by demanding a freeze in the Palestinian armed struggle, recognition of Israel and participation in the Camp David accords.’”

The day after Jackson came home from Beirut. The archive already follows him through the American papers that year; this is the same trip read from the other end, and the criticism is specific rather than dismissive, which is rare in the coverage of him.
