Israeli soldier denies being at Sabra camp

“TEL AVIV, Israel — An Israeli soldier whose identification tags were found in the Sabra refugee camp after the Palestinian massacre there testified Tuesday that he was never in the camp and thought the tags were taken there by someone who found them. Sgt.
Benny Chaim told the judicial commission investigating the massacre he was wounded when Israeli forces pushed into west Beirut on Wednesday, Sept. 15, the day before the slaughter of the refugees began in the Sabra and Chatilla camps. Chaim said the dog tags were in his field jacket when he was wounded.
He said a medic cut the jacket off him and threw it aside because it was burning and contained grenades. ‘I personally do not know how my documents got from the site of my injury to inside the refugee camp,’ he said.”
