Israelis to release more Arab prisoners

JERUSALEM — Continuing its carrot-and-stick approach to the Palestinian uprising, Israel is expected to release several hundred Arab prisoners from the West Bank and Gaza Strip Thursday, military sources said Wednesday. In recent years, Israel routinely has released prisoners approaching parole time in advance of the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice, called Id al-Adha.

The feast begins Thursday night. Military sources would not say how many would be released.
