Captioned 22 April; the masthead reads Thursday, April 21, 1988. Corrected. The photograph runs beside a report on graffiti and desecration at the synagogue and the rally that answered it, where the mayor apologised to the Jewish community and a rabbi warned the attack was not isolated. The clipping is held whole, because the placard and the desecration are on the same page and cropping either one out would misrepresent what the reader saw.
