'Iron Fist' Enslaves Gazans In Their Land

Context added by this archive
January 1988, three weeks into the first intifada. The paper holds Iron Fist at arm’s length in quotation marks, and then sets its own verb outside them: the policy enslaves. And the last three words settle the question the rest of this archive spends a century circling — in their land. By June a Detroit paper was printing the same phrase with no marks at all (CP-1988-020).
