CAN AGAIN VISIT PALESTINE.
Tourists Will Be Allowed In Egypt and Holy Land.

Transcribed from the clipping
Egypt and Palestine, closed to tourists since the beginning of the war, are about to be opened to travelers by the British Government, the Jerusalem Daily Mail reports. With the Jewish National Homeland established in Palestine under Great Britain’s mandate, the Holy Land, it is expected, will attract thousands of tourists.
Jerusalem now has a newly remodeled hotel, the Hotel Allenby, named in honor of the British General, and the construction of several hotels is purposed in Haifa and Jaffa. Before the war the tourist industry was one of the chief trades in Palestine. The housing shortage will be the chief drawback to any large immediate influx of tourists.
The immediate building of several thousand houses to provide for the first Jewish immigrants to go into the country was advocated strongly at the World Zionist Conference and will probably be carried out as one of the first reconstruction measures.

This record is part of Covering Palestine, an archive of American newspaper clippings about Palestinians, 1724 to 2023. Researched and assembled by Maria Robles.
The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
