40 JEWS AND 10 ARABS Jewish Telegraphic Agency LONDON, 'May 4—Jerusalem dis- patches today report that Jaffa is still in an unsettled state following the recent rioting, and that clashes between Moslems and Jews continue. Martial law has been proclaimed and more troops are arriving in the city A British warship also was expected to reach the port of Jaffa today.it was said.
So far as is known there have been to date forty persons kill- ed and more than 200 wounded. A dispatch received yesterady by the colonial office from Sir Herbert Samuel gave the casualties as thirty Jews and ten Arabs killed and 142 Jews and thirty-seven others were treated in hospitals. Sixty-eight persons were placed under arrest by the authorities.
