“Jaffa (J. T. A.) — Negotiations have been started between Jewish and Arab orange growers in Palestine for the maintenance of standard prices on oranges during the next season. The growers have declared themselves ready in principle to destroy part of their crop, if necessary, in order to avoid a possible drop in prices, thus following the example of Brazilian coffee planters.”

The archive had nothing from 1935 before this. Four sentences, and what they describe is a joint Jewish and Arab price cartel in the citrus trade — two populations the rest of the coverage keeps apart, sitting down to agree what an orange is worth and how much of the crop to burn.
