Blames Uprisings Of Arabs In Palestine To Landowners’ Fears

“Arabic uprisings against the Jews in Palestine are primarily a move of the landowners fearing the effect that Jewish immigration may have on the peasants who are practically their slaves, Rabbi David Polish of the Congregation of Temple Judah said Thursday noon at the Lions club luncheon at the Roosevelt hotel. At present, he said, there are approximately 400,000 Jews and 800,000 Arabs in Palestine. There have been no pitched battles of Arabs and Jews, he added, but the Jews of Palestine have been provided with ammunition that they may use to protect themselves against Arab attacks… and the Arab peasants are learning intensive farming from the Jews.”
