Transcribed from the clipping

“The Arab hunger strikers in Acre prison and the Arab High Committee won a victory today when the government announced that 100 of the 150 prisoners would be released today and that others would be freed in a few days.”

Context added by this archive

The earliest Palestinian hunger strike in the archive, eleven years before Israel existed and two years before the archive’s next prison record. It worked: the headline is a victory, not a death. Acre prison, under the British Mandate, and the government that conceded is the Palestine Government.
