“We have learned much about the horrible word ‘genocide’ during the U. N. debate on that subject. But what is happening to the Jews in the Arab states today is ‘genocide,’ albeit on a smaller scale than in Germany.”

Four months before the Genocide Convention was adopted, and while the UN was still debating it. The word arrives in American print on this subject already wearing quotation marks, because it was four years old. A Jewish community weekly, not a daily.
