Thousands attend funeral for Israeli killed in attack

“HEBRON, Occupied West Bank (AP) — Thousands of Israelis went to the occupied Arab city of Hebron Monday for the funeral of a U.S.-Israeli Vietnam War veteran killed last week in a Palestinian guerrilla ambush… ‘We must expel all the Arabs from here,’ said extremist Rabbi Meir Kahane. ‘It’s either them or us,’ he told Israel Radio.”

The dateline reads HEBRON, Occupied West Bank. The word occupied is in the dateline, in the body twice more, and the paper calls Kahane an extremist in its own voice. Seventeen years later the same town would be datelined without it.
