June 23, 1985 Lebanese militia fighters exchange machine-gun fire Associated Press BEIRUT, Lebanon - Lebanese Christian and Moslem fighters bat- tled with machine guns and rocket- propelled grenades in central Bei- rut on Saturday and one soldier was reported killed.
Police said the soldier was slain when his position along the "Green Line" that divides the Lebanese capital into east and west was hit by machine-gun fire. Fighting between Lebanon's civil-war antagonists has flared for three months along the three-mile. long dividing line.
In the Palestinian refugee camp of Bourj el-Barajneh in south Bei- rut, Moslem Shiite militias held to a Syrian-sponsored truce for the fourth day.
