Page A24, Sunday 7 May 1989. Same day as the Hawaii Tribune Herald (CP-1989-004), and the two papers differ by one injured person: 138 here, 137 there. The subject of the first clause is violence, which peaks by itself; the subject of the second is the three dead. The army is in neither clause.
