“‘If this (withdrawal) proposal is accepted, terrible things will happen… There will be riots and demonstrations by tens of thousands (of Palestinians)… They will go out from the cities and conduct pogroms’… In the West Bank, a Palestinian was killed in a clash with troops, bringing the Palestinian death toll in the uprising to 371.”

The same Associated Press dispatch as the Miami Herald printing, the same day, and the clearest instrument in this collection. Three things differ: this dateline says Occupied and Miami’s does not; this printing carries a man’s death and a running count of 371 that Miami does not carry at all; and the same quotation appears here as tens of thousands where Miami has thousands. Whether a reader understood a settler leader to have predicted riots by thousands or by tens of thousands depended on which paper they held.
