JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli troops beat a Palestinian photographer and threatened him at gunpoint Friday while he was photographing a riot in the West Bank town of Ramallah, Israel radio said. Atta Awesat, who works for the Israeli photo agency Zoom, said one soldier grabbed him by the throat and another whacked him in the head with his M-16 assault rifle.

He required 12 stitches to close the wound.
