“…a Brooklyn-born physician and Jewish settler in the occupied West Bank, entered the Al-Ibrahimi Mosque — the second holiest in Palestine — and opened fire with a machine gun. As many as 50 people who were worshiping there at the time were killed…

A reader named Waheed Khalid writing to a New Jersey paper, using the mosque’s Arabic name and calling Palestine by name. One of the few Arab-American voices in this archive printed within days of an event rather than months after it.
