Palestinian doctor tells of Israeli abuses By Kathryn Kingsbury Correspondent for The Capital Times Mamdouh Al-Aker says the worst thing about his 40-day imprisonment by the Israeli government wasn't that he was in solitary confinement in a one-by-two-meter cell. It was that the clothes they gave him smelled like urine.
Al-Aker, a Palestinian doctor and activist from the West Bank city of Ramallah who was imprisoned in 1991, says he never saw papers say- ing what he was being charged with and was never brought to trial. Some Israeli officials initially accused him of associating with terrorists, but they later lifted that claim.
