“Palestinian Khader Adnan (center) is greeted Wednesday in Arrabeh during a celebration of his release from an Israeli jail. Adnan, a senior member of Islamic Jihad, didn’t eat for 66 days in protest of prisoners’ conditions and detention without trial.”

He gets his name when he is released and photographed, and not while he is starving. Eleven years before he died on hunger strike in Israeli custody, which this archive also holds.
