“‘How long, oh Lord?’ is my worn-out response to the vicious racist genocide raging in the Middle East between Israel and the Occupied Territories of Palestine. More than a thousand Palestinians have been killed so far in this latest grueling war between ancient peoples on the lands of Palestine usurped for the Jewish state 50-some years ago.
The dead and injured include women and children holed up in supposedly safe and protected areas of the open-air prison of Gaza, 1.8 million people crammed into 139 square miles of the noncontiguous area that makes up approximately 20 percent of the original land left to Palestine at the founding of Israel.
The Israeli death toll stands under 50 after 10 days of rocket firing from Gaza the first weekend in August.
The United States supplies Israel with its weapons — we are the largest munitions supplier in the world — and both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas are supplied through tunnels on the border with Egypt, weapons mostly provided by Russia and Iran… The father of a large Islamic family, most of whom were killed in a recent bombing, Abdul Karim, buried his dead and declared, ‘I am against violence and killing from both sides.
The Israeli children are precious for me. Our children are precious for us.’ Both parties to this bitter war are being used as proxies by other countries the world over.”
