Trump's Palestine move unnecessary If Donald Trump truly wants "wonder boy" Jared Kushner to find a path to peace between the Palestinians and Israel then recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving our embassy there is a sure way to guarantee a failure.

This may play well with the Israeli lobby and the evan- gelical Christian fringe, but it is a sure way to incite violence in the West Bank and Gaza, as well as alienate the majority of the na- tions in the Middle East. This move is a cynical sop to Trump's base and the Israeli government, which has no inten- tion of negotiating a settlement in Palestine.

It will be paid for in blood, and it was not necessary. No path to peace in Palestine in- cludes such a reckless and arro- gant move. Once again, Trump shows his ignorance of world affairs and willingness to cater to the fringe elements of the Re- publican Party. Kenneth R. England Albany (Dec. 5)
