Faith community must condemn raids at Al-Aqsa Mosque

“At the convergence of Lent/Easter, Passover and Ramadan, this season marks the holiest time of the year for the three Abrahamic religions… As a Muslim American living in a predominantly Christian country, I’ve been privileged to sit with my Christian friends and share the experience of our respective fasts… And yet, what is now becoming a sad Ramadan tradition, we are forced to witness the devastation of what happens to our fellow worshipers in Masjid Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. It profoundly hurts us to see our fellow worshipers being terrorized by raids, intimidation and destruction. The images of worshipers shackled and forced to lay face down on the ground is an outrage… Over and over, when members of my faith tradition commit acts of terror, we are called upon to condemn it. We will continue to do so as any act of terror is contrary to our faith. Today, I am calling upon all faith voices to put politics aside, condemn this violation and recommit to preserve the sanctity of houses of worship.”
