ZIONISTS AID PALESTINE.
Federation to Maintain a Hospital Unit in the Holy Land.

Transcribed from the clipping
PHILADELPHIA, July 5.—The Federation of American Zionists at its closing sessions trday discussed plans for more thorough organization of relief work for suffering Jews abroad than those in effect at present.
The convention indorsed the plan of the Palestine Committee of the Federation to undertake the organization of a corporation with capital stock of $1,000,000 for the purpose of aiding Jewish colonies in Palestine and developing the resources of the Holy Land. The expenditure of $25,000 annually for the maintenance of a hospital unit in Palestine was approved.
Miss Henrietta Szold, President of the Hadassah, the women’s organization affiliated with the governing body, told the delegates that the European war had created a demand for physicians and nurses and that it remained with the American Zionists to provide a hospital unit, to be wholly American, and ready to start for Palestine in September.
An advisory board of physicians had been organized for the purpose of judging the qualifications of the physicians and nurses who will compose the unit, she said. Officers were elected at the final session as follows: Dr. Harry F. Friendenwald, Baltimore, President; Louis Lipsky, New York, Chairman of the Executive Committee; Louis Robinson, New York, Treasurer, and Bernard A.
Rosenblatt, New York, Honorary Secretary.

Read from the scan by a machine looking at the image of the page, not by optical character recognition and not by a person. The clipping carries no masthead or date line, so its date and newspaper rest on the record it arrived with, not on anything visible in the scan.

Date check: No masthead appears on this clipping — it is a trimmed single column with rules on both sides. The dateline reads "PHILADELPHIA, July 5.", one day before the slide date of 1916-07-06, which is the normal gap for a wire story. The year cannot be verified from the image.
