Unrent in Asia Minor. The confurion prevalling in Asla Minor seems to be increasing from day to day. 8ome time ago France jettisoned the Cilicia mandate in the hope of placating the Turkish natlonalists and inducing them to cease their anti-French agita- tlon in Syria.
Mustapha Kemal Pasha, on behalf of the nattonalist government of Angora, promised that no actlon would be taken against French influence and authority in Syria and that the rights of the Christian section of the population in Cilicia and Armenia would be re- spected. There is little indication that the na- tionalists intend to keep their pledges.
The anti-French agltation in Syria is dally increasing in violence and has now assumed the character of an open rebel- lion. The Arab tribes in certain districts have revolted and have asked the tribes of Transjordania to aid them to win their political independence. In the Garabl
