By Webb Miller, United Press, Jerusalem via London, Dec. 22: “Bitter determination to resist the British Royal Commission's recommendations for the partition of Palestine into three parts is being increasingly manifest as the Christmas season approaches at the scene of Christ's birth. Rioting, bloodshed and daily assassinations have, if anything, increased in their recurrence.” The dispatch then sets out the Arab case in numbered points, among them: “9 — The Jews are a minority of intruders whose political connections in Palestine ceased 20 centuries ago, while the Arabs have maintained unbroken residence more than 13 centuries.” “10 — Britain's imperial and military considerations have been permitted to outweigh justice to the Arabs.” “11 — Establishment of a Jewish state as proposed fails to solve the problem of world Jewry, because it would not hold a small fraction of the Jews of the world, even those desiring to emigrate from Germany and Poland alone.” On the wartime promise: “The British government during the World War made an agreement with King Hussein, representing the Arabs, promising in event of victory the independence of all Arab territories within the Turkish empire, in exchange for Arab support.”
