Transcribed from the clipping

In observance of the silver jubilee of Jewish National Fund Flower Day, Zionist volunteers will sell “Palestine flowers” here and in many communities throughout the United States today, it was announced yesterday by the Jewish National Fund of America. The proceeds will be used for “Palestine land redemption.”

Twenty Jewish and non-Jewish florists in the metropolitan area have contributed fresh-cut flowers to the Jewish National Fund, and 1,250,000 artificial flowers have been placed in the hands of the volunteers. Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, will speak on flower day over the Intercity radio network today at 6 P. M.

How this transcription was made

Read from the scan by a machine looking at the image of the page, not by optical character recognition and not by a person. The clipping carries no masthead or date line, so its date and newspaper rest on the record it arrived with, not on anything visible in the scan.

Date check: No masthead or page date line on the clipping. The story is datelined nowhere and refers to an announcement made “yesterday,” so the 1938-05-15 date cannot be confirmed from the image.

This record is part of Covering Palestine, an archive of American newspaper clippings about Palestinians, 1724 to 2023. Researched and assembled by Maria Robles.

The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
