The Jewish National Fund, the Zionists’ land-purchasing agency, is preparing to place at the disposal of German-Jewish refugees sufficient land in Palestine to accommodate 25,000 families, according to Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the fund and co-chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, who returned yesterday on the French liner Normandie.

“Such a measure for salvaging the first 100,000 victims of Nazism would not require new legislation or new international agreements,” Dr. Goldstein said. “It would merely mean the extension of present facilities in the Jewish homeland, and comes directly under the purview of the Balfour Declaration.

With the governmental aid of England and the good-will of the United States the Jews of the world should undertake to raise a substantial share of the funds required.”

Read from the scan by a machine looking at the image of the page, not by optical character recognition and not by a person. The clipping carries no masthead or date line, so its date and newspaper rest on the record it arrived with, not on anything visible in the scan.

Date check: No masthead or page date line on the clipping. The story carries no dateline and refers to Dr. Goldstein returning “yesterday,” so the 1938-11-25 date cannot be confirmed from the image.
