CAIRO, Egypt, Aug.

8—To counter such moves as may be contemplated to increase the ownership of land in Palestine by members of the Jewish faith, some 400 delegates of the Arab communities in the Lydda and Gaza provinces of Palestine have appealed to the Palestine Government “to save Arab land” and to instigate an investigation into the alleged illegal purchases of land by Jewish settlers, according to reports reaching here today.

The delegates, who passed a resolution thanking the Arab League for its work on behalf of the Palestine Arabs, urged that the presidency of the Jerusalem municipality should continue as an Arab Moslem office and called for the return of political exiles.

This record is part of Covering Palestine, an archive of American newspaper clippings about Palestinians, 1724 to 2023. Researched and assembled by Maria Robles.

The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
