“JERUSALEM, Palestine, Dec. 2.—(UP)—Wild Arab and Jewish mobs did damage estimated at more than $1,000,000 in Jerusalem today and a pitched night battle was fought in the turbulent ‘no man’s land’ between Arab Jaffa and Jewish Tel Aviv. In Cairo the holy men of 1,000-year-old Al Azher University called for a worldwide Moslem holy war in defense of Palestine… Hours of wild rioting here ended at dusk when an emergency curfew was clamped on the Holy City.”
