UN Ignores Tragic Plight Of Palestine’s Christians

“The United Nations never took one step to guarantee the lives or property of the indigenous Arab population in Jewish Palestine. Hundreds of thousands of them have been turned into refugees… It apparently surprised Americans to learn that there were any Christians in Palestine! Yet they constitute a tenth of the Arab-speaking population… Israel and its American supporters are claiming an absolutely unique immunity from criticism—as recently pointed out by pro-Israel Walter White.”

A nationally syndicated columnist noting, in January 1950, that the existence of a whole population came as news to American readers. The Walter White she cites is the secretary of the NAACP quoted in the Alabama Tribune of 29 October 1948 on “genocide, Palestine, and the basic issue of colonies.” Seven years before this column, the Southern Jewish Weekly had invoked Thompson as the keener analyst who disagreed with the anti-Zionists.
