“UNITED NATIONS, N. Y., Dec. 14—Representatives of 11 Arab nations asked Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold today to investigate the recent slaying of Arab inhabitants of Israel, an alleged Israeli ‘scorched-earth’ policy in Sinai, and other charges against the government of Israel. According to Mohammed F. Jamali of Iraq, the Arab bloc delegation called the U.
N. chief’s attention to ‘the crime of Genocide’ October 29, when Israeli border policemen killed 48 Arabs in the village of Kafr Kassem. Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion announced Wednesday that the police commander and others were facing trial as a result of the incident.
The Arab bloc told the Secretary General that ‘roads, railroads, communication lines, villages, bridges, water tanks and wells are being completely demolished’ by Israelis in the Sinai area.”
