Get ‘Food for Peace’

“The U.S. Food for Peace program will provide 95,000 tons of floor to help feed 1 million Palestine refugees in Jordan, the Gaza Strip, Lebanon and Syria. The program will be administered by the United Nations Relief & Works Agency (UNRWA).
Use of surplus products, under the Food for Peace program, has enabled the United States to reduce its cash contribution to the UNRWA.”

Four sentences in a Black Mississippi weekly in 1962. A million Palestine refugees, counted, in a note about American surplus grain — and the last sentence is about what the arrangement saves the United States. “floor” is the paper’s.
